Here in Aviemore there are a wide range of trails for families and beginner cyclists alike, these are by no means ‘boring’ routes, there are still fantastic views and trails to be seen!
Speyside Way (Route 7)
The Speyside Way Trail from Aviemore to Boat of Garten is an enjoyable, scenic route that follows the path of the Strathspey Steam Railway for around 6 miles to the small village of Boat of Garten. The path is wide and smooth and suitable for children, childrens trailers, hybrid bikes and electric bikes. There are a few small hills but on the whole the route is very flat for such a hilly area. It can take anything from 30 minutes to just over an hour to cycle to Boat of Garten.
Start this cycle route from Route 7 Cafe , a cycling friendly cafe with bike wash, in the Dalfaber Industrial Estate in Aviemore. On arrival in Boat of Garten why not pop in to the 1896 Cafe where you be greeted with warm welcome and can sample some of the Cairngorm Cakery’s finest cakes! After you have eaten tonnes of cake you might not fancy cycling back to Aviemore, well that’s no problem, for no additional fee to your ticket you can take your bike on the Strathspey Steam Railway and relax all the way back to Aviemore.
